APC Calls For Cancellation Of Akwa Ibom Election

While the governorship and state house of
assembly elections are still in progress
across the country, with Nigerians waiting
in anticipation for their desired candidate to
emerge winner, the All Progressive
Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State has
called for the cancellation of the polls.
The state’s APC gubernatorial candidate,
Umana Umana, made the call while
speaking with Nigerian Pilot reporter in his
Ndiya ward.
He said PDP agents have hijacked
materials from INEC staff making it
impossible for voters to participate in the
election.
The party’s guber candidate further
explained that reports from across the
state by the party’s agents also revealed
widespread disenfranchisement of voters
following attempts by the PDP thugs to
hijack election materials.
Umana further disclosed that security
agents intercepted election materials
comprising result sheets in the House of a
PDP chieftain in Nsit Ubium local council.
According to him, although the election
materials were handed back to INEC
officials, the people refused to vote
because the ballot papers were incomplete.
“In the light of this we are therefore calling
for the cancelation of the polls in Akwa Ibom
since widespread hijack of materials in all the
local governments of the state did not allow
voters to exercise their franchise,” he said.
Umana said he has already made a formal
report to the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) on the development.
